A Musician’s Advent, Week 4: Embracing the Peace of the Divine

We’ve made it to the final week of Advent; and as we prepare for Christmas, our theme this week is “Embracing the Peace of the Divine.”

This week, we focus on the peace that Christ brings—a peace that goes beyond our understanding and invites us into the very presence of God.

The Peace of Christ

Isaiah 9:6 tells us that Christ is the “Prince of Peace.” The birth of Christ signifies the arrival of divine peace—peace that transcends all the noise and busyness of life. As musicians, we have the privilege of sharing this peace through our music.

Whether we’re performing at a Christmas Eve service or simply enjoying a moment of quiet practice, we are called to be bearers of Christ’s peace.

Practical Ways to Embrace the Peace of Christ

  1. Reflect on Christ's Peace: Spend time this week meditating on the peace that Christ brings. Whether you’re practicing or performing, remind yourself that your music is an offering of peace to the world.

  2. Let Go of Anxiety: If you’ve been anxious about performances or worried about meeting expectations, take a moment to let go of that anxiety and embrace the peace that comes from knowing Christ is with you.

  3. Share the Peace: Share the peace you’ve found in Christ with those around you—whether through a kind word, a gesture of grace, or the beauty of your music.

Hymn: “Silent Night”

One of the most beloved Christmas carols, “Silent Night”, captures the peace of the divine beautifully. Its gentle melody and serene lyrics remind us of the calm and quiet that accompanied the birth of Christ.

Lyrics:
Silent night, holy night,
All is calm, all is bright,
Round yon virgin mother and child,
Holy infant so tender and mild,
Sleep in heavenly peace,
Sleep in heavenly peace.

Conclusion

As we finish this Advent season, let’s embrace the peace of Christ. Whether in practice, performance, or our relationships with others, let His peace reign in our hearts.

Until next time... Take care, my friends.
